Understanding that there are many choices today for a wheelchair ramp is just the begining. Here at American Access we would like to be able to give you enough information so that you can make a sound decision about your wheelchair ramp need.
Just because we manufacture our own wheelchair ramp does not mean it's always the best option for you. Some other options are wood, plastic composite, and wood and aluminum combinations. Function wise, they will all get you from ground to door in the same manner. It really comes down to "what can I afford?" and "will there be additional cost over time?" once the product is installed.
Wood may be the most economical product for your budget, and may cost less up front than some of the other choices. But will it last over time, will it lose it's beauty exposed to nature and what will it cost me to maintain this wood ramp over time? This type of ramp is usually installed as a "permanent" ramp and in most cases requires a local building permit in order to construct it.
The aluminum ramp system is considered "portable and modular". This means that the product is assembled on site, is NOT considered a "permanent" ramp. Because our ramp is not considered a permanent ramp when the need for the ramp goes away, so does the ramp. Simply take the sections apart and remove, it's really that simple. It will also give you a product that you can sell later if there ever comes a time when the ramp is no longer needed at a paticular location.
